Expansion is a property of gas.

Explanation:

  • There are three characteristic properties of gas: 1) Gases can be easily compressed, 2) They have the property of expansion, 3) They occupy more space than liquid and solid.
  • Expansion is the property of gas. When heat is provided the kinetic energy of the gas-particle gets increase which cause gas particle to expand.
  • However gas in a fixed volume gas is not able to expand and an increase in heat causes an increase in pressure. So as expansion is gas characteristic property so gas remains gas after heating.
