how can you justify reservation if you believe in equality​

➡️EBL means absence of privileges enjoyed by any section.

➡️Everyone is equal in the eyes of law.

➡️Be a president or a common man, they are subjected to same law of the land.

➡️Thus EBL gurantees only juridic equality or legal equality.

➡️EPL means equality of treatment in equal circumstances.

➡️State should ensure that people are placed in similar circumstances before applying any law on them.

➡️Also, if people cannot be placed under similar circumstances, then State may classify people into different categories, and then apply law differently on them.

➡️Reservation policy is protected under the EPL. 

➡️In simple words, EPL means like must be treated alike and alike must not be treated like.

➡️One can ask why income tax is not equally applicable to everyone (at same rate), even when Constitution confer right to equality.

➡️It is because people are not placed in similar situations.
