Explanation:

The magnetic effect of electric current is known as electromagnetic effect. It is observed that when a compass is brought near a current carrying conductor the needle of compass gets deflected because of flow of electricity. This shows that electric current produces a magnetic effect.

Answer:

By using a simple compass, wires, battery or cells.

Explanation:

Magnetic effect of current is another property of electric current. When there is a compass nearby a complete electric circuit passing electric current through it, the needle of the compass start defecting along the flow of electric current(this is the magnetic effect of current).

Step by Step:

Aim- To show the magnetic effect of electric current.

Materials Required- A compass, long piece of metal(copper for example) wire and cell or a battery(a battery is nothing but a combination of two or more cells).

Precautions- Do not use electric sockets or high voltage battery for this activity.

Procedure:-

  1. Connect the free ends of the wires to negative and positive terminals of the battery.
  2. Wrap the piece of metal(copper) wire around the compass.
  3. Let the electric Current flow through this circuit if not yet done.

Observation- We saw that when electric current was passed along the compass the needle of the compass start defecting along the way of electric current.

Conclusion- By this activity of making the tester using the principle of magnetic effect of electric current we conclude that a compass needle always gets defected when electricity is passed near or along it.
