If we place a glass container and cover a burning candle, after some time we will see that because of lack of oxygen, the candle turns off. We know that oxygen supports combustion, that is burning in the presence of oxygen. So, as oxygen is present in the air, we can say that air is necessary for burning.

to prove that air is needed for burning we can conduct an experiment

take two burning candles A and B and place them on a table.

take a glass and put it over the candle B.

leave the candle A undisturbed.

we will notice that candle B no longer burns as it did not get enough air.

hence we can conclude by telling that air is needed for burning..
