Hot air rises when u heat it ( or anything ) , it expands and when air expands it becomes less dense than cold air .....

The particles of a substance begin to go far away from each other (diverge) when heated and come closer (converge) when cooled. Since the farther the particles, the lesser the density of the substance, so the substance with lesser density is lighter than the substance with higher density, we say that hot air is lighter than cold air
