indian nationalism developed as a concept during the Indian independence movement fought against the colonial British Raj.it spread awareness among the citizens to fight for their rights......

for the british nationalism meant:

★ that they would not be able to continue their trading business which was certainly the exploitation of indian resources.

★ they would not get slaves to live a comfortable life.

★ they would not be able to force young indians into their own army.

★ they would not be able to sell indian goods at high prices in european markets as the indians would ultimately oppose it. 

★ all of their chances of making profit would no longer be by their side and they would have to leave the country.

=> this is why we can say that nationalism is a result of discontentment against the British.
