Here is your answer mate...
The punishment given by parents can hold love for us. Our parents love us unconditionally and they always desire to see us on the top. If they punish us, it does not mean that they don't love us. They do so only for our betterment and not to hurt us. They want us to be a good person. Their purpose is not to hurt us, but to make us remind of the punishment whenever we are on the way to repeat the same mistake.
In the chapter 'The Little Girl', Kezia's father punished her because he did not want her to repeat her mistake. Underneath his frightening and strict exterior, there was a kind-hearted and affectionate father who loved his daughter a lot. It is true that he lagged behind in understanding Kezia's feelings but, this was because he became too tired and engrossed after working all day long in his office. He appeared too strict because he wanted Kezia to be disciplined and well brought up, not to scare her away. Thus, our parents love us very dearly and they punish us only for the sake of our betterment.
