rural and urban settlements are complementary as;

- economic activities of rural areas serve as raw materials for vast segments of industries in urban areas.

- migration of people from rural to urban areas has provided manpower for urban industries.

- agricultural activities in rural areas ensured food security throughout.

hope this helps:)

Answer:

Rural and urban settlements are complementary to each other. The villages provide the supply of food grains,fruits,vegetables,milk and daily labourers to the towns. On the other hand, the towns supply industrial goods that are required in the vilagges. People from villages come to the towns for employment opportunities and also for educational, medical and entertainment facilities.
