Only about five percent of starches are broken down in the mouth. (This is a good thing as more glucose in the mouth would lead to more tooth decay.) When carbohydrates reach the stomach no further chemical breakdown occurs because the amylase enzyme does not function in the acidic conditions of the stomach.Digestion is the breakdown of large insoluble food molecules into small water-soluble food molecules so that they can be absorbed into the watery blood plasma. ... Gastric juice in the stomach starts protein digestion. Gastric juice mainly contains hydrochloric acid and pepsin.Carbohydrates are digested in the mouth, stomach and small intestine. Carbohydrase enzymes break down starch into sugars. The saliva in your mouth contains amylase, which is another starch digesting enzyme.

Answer:

The carbohydrates are converted into starch by salivary amylase  present  in the saliva in our mouth. Then after going through the food pipe and stomach food reaches small intestine where after emulsification of fat by bile juice and pancreatic juice , the intestinal juice finally converts starch into glucose, proteins to amino acids and fat to fatty acid and glycerol.

Hope it helps...
