we can say that the two boys Jacobo and Nichola worked quite hard with following reaseons...

1) they used to do many sorts of jobs for earning money..

2) they were ready to do any kind of work

3) they used to sell strawberries in morning and polish shoes and sell newspapers

4) they do so much hardwork to pay the expense of their sister LUCIA..
