The narrator’s grandmother was not well. She was also very old. Actually she knew she would die with slightest physical exertion. However, the pleasure on return of her grandson was more than her good health. She was so elated that she could not control herself. May be she wanted to enjoy for the last time. The proceedings needed a great bodily power which her frail body could not tolerate. And finally she paves her way to heavenly abode.

The day the narrator arrived in the home after five years, the grandmother becomes very happy and joyous. She continued singing and beating the drum in her happiness. She turned over exhausted and because of this, she fell sick. While she was praying and counting the beads of the rosary, she died peacefully.
