How can you test the presence of starch in a leaf? What do you conclude when white patches do not turn blue- black on adding iodine solution​

The leaf can be decolourised by boiling it and placing it in an alcohol bath. It shows that white patches do not photosynthesize as iodine turns blue black in the presence of starch.
