Aim : To test the presence of starch in a leaf

Materials Required :

Leaf, Boiling tube, burner, water, iodine solution.

Procedure :

1. Take a leaf (early exposed to sunlight) and put it into a boiling tube containing water.

2. Heat the tube over the burner.

3. After hearing a while, drop some drops of iodine solution on it.

Observation :

The solution or the water containing the leaf turns blue-black in color.

Result :

Leaf contains starch which makes the solution change its colour.
