How can you test the presence of the following
a) Hydrogen , b)oxygen , c)Carbon dioxide gases ?

C) Presence of C02 can be determined by passing through lime water..it turns milky due to formation of Caco3

Explanation:

Hydrogen by flame test. burns with pale blue flame when pure and with pop sound when premixed with air.

Oxygen also flame test. It rekindles a growing splinter.

Carbon dioxide is mixed with lime water. It turns limewater milky. But in excess quantity it returns to normal colour.  Since sulphur dioxide also turns lime water milky, you need to make sure that carbon dioxide is tested on filter paper dipped in acidified Potassium dichromate or potassium dichromate because Carbon dioxide has no affect on them, on the other hand Sulphur dioxide changes thier colours.
