How can you that the carbohydrates are not completely digested until they reach the intestine?

carbohydrate need alkaline medium for digestion.

The carbohydrate digestion starts from at the mouth by the action of salivary amylase and is paused in the stomach as the stomach is acidic in nature. when it reaches the intestine (duodenum) it is activated by the action of pancreatic amylase and is thus completed and are converted into sucrose, maltose, dextrose, glucose and other simple sugars.
