the ripe tomatoes and Apple are used in ripening of green bananas as they release a volatile fruit ripening plant hormone called ETHYLENE.

ethylene is also known as a fruit ripening agent.

nowadays we use ethylene in the form of ethephone.

The ethylene gas will be produced by the ripened fruits. So you can use ripe tomato and ripe apple to ripen a bunch of green banana.

EXPLANATION:

  • Take a plastic bag and place the bunch of green banana in it
  • Then place the ripe tomato or the ripe apple in the same bag.
  • Cover and close the bag tightly and wait for 24 hours.

You will see that the color of the bunch of the banana starts to change to the yellow as it starts to ripen. This is because the ethylene gas produced by the ripe tomato or ripe apple whatever placed in the bag.
