Answer & Explanation:

Using Gold Leaf Electroscope (GLE) we can find the nature of charge on the body (specimen).

The GLE apparatus has a disk that conducts charge while it has gold leaves that move to show the nature of charge.

For example,

If we bring the charged body near its disc, the leaves further diverge, then body is negatively charged.  However, if leaves collapse, charge G.L.E positively.

The first time we bring the object close to the GLE, the leaves get charged with the charge of the object, so we are to bring the object closer to the disk the second time to determine the charge of the body, hence;

Again bringing charged body near its disc.  If the leaves diverge, then body is positively charged and if the leaves collapse, the body has negative charge.
