Answer:

inside fire extinguishers, carbon dioxide gas is stored under high pressure.

being very cold and heavier than oxygen, it displaces oxygen from the fire.

Thus it cuts down the fire triangle of Oxygen and breaks down the supply of fuel to fire.

as such it helps to control fire

if anyone element of fire triangle is removed then the probability of controlling fire would increase.
