CCE reduces the stress on students by:
· Identifying continuous learning progress of students at regular time intervals on smaller portions of content.
· Encouraging learning using a variety of teaching aids and techniques.
· Taking up a variety of remedial measures of teaching as per the learning needs and potential of different students.
· Recognizing and encouraging specific abilities of students, who do not excel in academics but perform well in other co-curricular areas.
2. Overall Personality Development: 21st century calls for multi-tasking. The regular monitoring of the students helps in their proper grooming and realizing their strengths and weaknesses in multiple fields. Thus it helps them in overcoming their weaknesses and helps them develop their aptitude in multiple areas.
3. Generating Interest: It merges fun with studies. Encouraging students to participate in sports and co-curricular activities helps in creating interest among students. Group activities and stage performances build up their confidence which helps them in future.
4. Reduces pressure: Under CCE system, the CBSE syllabus is divided into two halves, one for each term. By dividing the portion into smaller chunks, it reduces the burden of the students to learn a lot of content at one time.
5. De-emphasize memorization: The examinations under CCE pattern are so designed that they compel students to understand the concepts rather than mugging them up.
6. Learner-centered activity: CCE changed learning from being ‘teacher centric/based on the available curriculum’ to a 'learner centric activity' -one where students' interest and choice is given the priority.
7. Flexibility: The CCE pattern allows different schools and in turn teachers the freedom to conduct the tests in their own way provided the teachers follow the CCE guidelines.
8. Emphasizes decorum:
· The co-scholastic grades ensure that the students are well mannered and decent.
· It helps in the all round development, grooming them into responsible citizens with social and moral responsibilities.
· The students can be penalized for bad (abusive) language, disrespect towards teachers or their mates.
· They are made responsible for the protection of the school property which prevents them from sabotaging school property.
9. Pattern of education: In the place of the old pattern of deciding the fate of a student by the single exam at the end of academic year, the CCE pattern ensures several tests are conducted throughout the year, both written and orals.
· The 4 Formative assessments (2 per term) carrying a weightage of 40%.
· Two summative assessments, one at the end of each term, carrying a weightage of 60%
The percentage so obtained by a student is then converted into CGPA and then grades are deduced.
