A solvent which has dipole moment i.e is polar but doesnot gives H+ ions i.e dosesnot dissociates into H+ ions is called a polar aprotic solvent.
Where as a solvent which is not only polar but it can donate H+ ion i.e proton is called a polar protic solvent.
