How come O2 and CO2 are considered as waste?

Its a stupid question which doesn't matter much both o2 and co2 are important for life on earth.

Both o2 and co2 have there own use they can not be called waste

O2 is used by animals (for combustion and also by plants , respiration,etc) and co2 is used by plants for producing o2
