How could an increase in the number of snails cause the caterpillar population to increase?

1. In a food chain, there is interrelationship between different animals and organisms present in different trophic levels.

2. The snail here is the primary consumer i.e. it feeds on plants and the caterpillar here is the secondary consumer i.e. it feeds on the snails.

3. Hence, when there will be an increase in the number of snails , the caterpillar population will also increase.
