When a change in state occurs ( eg; solid to liquid, liquid to gas ), the temperature of the system generally remains constant but obviously heat is absorbed (otherwise how the change is state can happen? ) This heat which results in the change in state of any matter without affecting the temperature is called latent heat.
Latent heat of fusion ( solid to liquid ) & latent heat of vaporisation ( liquid to vapour ).
