How could the European Armies defeat Indian Army between 17 to 18 century

The European armies, especially the British, were technologically advanced and much more organised and disciplined than the Indian armies of various kings. Our military men were trained in sword fighting and one to one combat while the European army men had training in gun shooting, and other latest weaponry of that time. One thing that made the Europeans stood out was their naval strength, while in the 18th and 19th centuary, Indian kings had almost no naval division.
