The European leaders and Monarchs spent a lot of money on their army and for fighting the wars. The European army stood out on their naval strength. The weapons produced during the industrial revolution added to the warfare with the Europeans where the countries were outpacing each other on the basis of technology.

Explanation:

  • The Europeans were far superior in their alliances and military strength. In 1800 there was the industrial revolution and thereafter the technologies led their way into the various military operations.
  • Ranjit Singh had hired mercenaries from Europe in 1822 for the first time to train a ‘part of his troops’.
  • The Indian side was dominated by the Maratha Empire which ended with the third Anglo-Maratha war and thereafter brought in the British Empire in India.
