most of mendeleevee's defects are removed in the modern periodic table if the basis of classification of elements is changed from atomic weights to atomic numbers.

In the modern periodic table, atomic number was used as the fundamental basis for classification. This explained and removed various anomalies of Mendeleev's periodic table. Position of cobalt and nickel was justified.
