exothermic reaction :
An exothermic reaction is a chemical reaction that releases energy by light or heat. It is the opposite of an endothermic reaction. Expressed in a chemical equation: reactants → products + energy. Exothermic Reaction means "exo" meaning releases and "thermic" means heat.

endothermic reaction:The term endothermic process describes the process or reaction in which the system absorbs energy from its surroundings, usually in the form of heat.

a) in exothermic reaction, heat/energy is released and temperature of surrounding is increased.
b) in endothermic reaction, heat/energy is absorbed and temperature of surrounding is decreased.

I hope it will help you
