How Cricket class being organized by history of Gymkhana-
i) The establishment of Parsi Gymkhana in bombay led other indians to establish clubs based on religion.
ii) Teams played colonial India's famous first class cricket that did not represented regions but religious communities.
iii) Tournament was initially Quadrangular because it was played by four teams, EUROPEANS, PARSIS, HINDU AND MUSLIMS. When fifth 'rest' (namely indian Christians) the tournament started to be called as Pentagular.
iv) A rural first class tournament NCC ( later known as RANJI TROPHY) was also eshtablished..
