Cytokinesis occurs in mitosis and meiosis for both plant and animal cells the ultimate objective is to divide the parent cell into daughter cells. In plants this occurs when a cell wall forms in between the daughter cells. In animals this occurs when a cleavage furrow forms.

Cytokinesis is the process in which the cell cytoplasm divides. Cyto means cytoplasm and kinesis means division.
In animals while cell division, a cleavage furrow occurs between the cells to divide as the cytoplasm divides from the periphery to the centre.
Whereas in Plants a cell plate is formed between the organelles of the cell and then that cell plate divides the cell into two.
