It promotes gender equality by letting women grant various possessions.

  • All land, including the person's notional share of joint family property, was considered as self-acquired/separate property under the effective scheme.
  • Daughters had the right to inherit separate property from their father in any of these schemes, but only if there were no known male heirs and the widowed mother.
  • It was supposed to provide a succession law giving sons and daughters equal inheritance rights. Women had absolute control of their stridhan given at the time of wedding and could inherit immovable property as well.
