American and French revolution marked the democratic movements in 18th century. However, democracy in France was not stable or secure. Democracy was established but the right to vote was limited to very few men. In the 19th century, democracy centred around political equality, freedom and justice. The demand for universal adult franchise gained momentum. In the 20th century, there were instances of transition to democracy, challenges to democracy and military coups. Moreover, attempts are being made to make the international organizations more democratic. As a result people of the world can vent their views and ideas about the international and global affairs.
