How did 1857 revolt failure, why?

The 1857 revolt was a failure as a very big part of India actually did not revolt and that is why it was deemed as a mere sepoy mutiny by the East India Company. A very large part of South India did not revolt and Punjab also did not revolt due to agreements. Also the East India Company was helped by UK who had the largest navy in the world and the EIC quickly took control again as they had a very big force of soldiers and navy as well as the less number of protesters
