The struggle for power was between arch rivals Afgans and Turks(generally) well Afgans were already ruling Delhi at that point
First of all its a myth that prevails that Babur was establisher of Mughal empire ofcourse he won the battle of panipat (1) against Ibrahim lodhi on the call of lodhi’s uncle and then established his supremacy over Delhi but after 4 years he left the world and his legacy
His succession was controversial and there were intense fights to grab power which was ultimately won by his son Humayun but he was not a able warrior
And was defeated decisively by Sher Shah Suri on two occasions that finished Mughal power almost completely until he came and changed the things forever..
Yeah Akbar under guardianship of Bairam khan he established a strong emipre not only in Delhi but over a large part of North India he revamped the empire

Babur establishing the Mughal Empire:
- On those days, Delhi Sultanate was under the rule of Ibrahim Lodi, who had created many enemies including the Afghans and lacked political and military supremacy.
- Governor of Punjab did not trust him and invited Babur to dethrone the Sultan. The Land of Punjab had become independent of Delhi sultanate rule thereby providing great victory to Babur upon its attack.
- After conquering the former his troops started proceeding Delhi. Babur fought the battle of Panipat against Ibrahim Lodi. Upon winning the battle, Babur succeeded in overthrowing the Afghans and establishing the Mughal Empire.
