Balkan is an area in Europe with geographical, ethnic and philosophical variations. At present, this area comprises of countries like Macedonia, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia etc. This area was under the control of Ottoman Empire of Turkey. After the downfall of Ottoman Empire due to disintegration of various groups in the area, this region became highly explosive and tense. The various groups of this region declared independence after coming out from the Ottoman Empire.
As, growing nationalism among the people, they struggled for their identity.They started hatring other people of different ethnicity and area.This raised the tension in this region. Due to the Industrialization, various European countries competed with each other over trade and colonies with naval and military. Countries like Russia,Germany,England,Austro Hungary Empire etc were keen to control the area. This resulted in a series of war and finally the First world war.
Hence,Balkan Politics became the most serious source of Nationalist tension in Europe after 1871.

Large part of Balkans were considered under ottoman Empire, and denying of this integrity led to created an explosive situations. Slowly, the nationalists left the control and announced independence. They used Previous History to tell there Victory and there site was to fight and claim for political rights but they were subjagted.
The Balkan states were fiercely jealous of each other & hoped to gain territory. They wanted full rights.Matter was serioud due to rivalry among Eurpean powers trade and colonies as well as naval and militry mights.
This actutually led to the FIRST WORLD WAR. AND COMPLETE DISTRUCTION.
