Sue was to paint an old miner, and the old Behrman, living on the ground floor, was to be her model. Behrman was a 60 year old painter. his life long dream was to paint a masterpiece. Sue told him how Johnsy was convinced that she would die when the last leaf fell. "Is she stupid?" . Behrman called her friend silly and made fun of her. Sue did not like what he said. After a while, she tiptoed into Johnsy's room . She was sleeping. Sue and Behrman saw that only one leaf was there on the tree. Johnsy woke up next morning. She saw pleasantly surprised to see one leaf still hanging on the creeper, in spite of the fierce wind . She realized that God wanted her to live. The leaf was Behrman's masterpiece to save Johnsy's life.
