This enraged Bakasura all the more. How dared
an ordinary man defy him like this? He slapped
and kicked and pounded and punched with all his
might. But it didn’t seem to have any effect on
Bheema who continued to eat placidly. ‘Hold on,
Baka, let me finish my meal in peace. I’ll settle
you afterwards.’
‘Settle me! Me, the great Bakasura! How dare you!
Don’t you know how the entire Ekachakra
trembles at the mention of my name? Do you
know how strong I am?’
‘No, I don’t. Let me wash my hands first and then
we’ll see’ said Bheema swallowing the last morsel
of food.
Bakasura let out another blood-curdling yell and
pulled up a tree to bash up Bheema. Bheema
pulled up another and faced him, a smile on his
face.
Then followed a battle royal with both Bheema and
Bakasura fighting each other with gusto. They
kept pulling up one tree after another until there
were none left and still they continued fighting.
Bakasura was indeed very strong and it was not
easy to defeat him. He huffed and he puffed and
let out wild yells all the time. Bheema, on the
other hand, was quite unruffled and didn’t seem
to get tired at all. Finally they came down to
wrestling and kept throwing each other down.
Bheema threw him up like a ball and threw him so
high that when he fell down with a huge thud
every single bone in his body was broken to bits.
‘There! That will teach you not to eat men ever in
your life!’ said Bheema walking away. The other
monsters in the forest were watching the fight
with great interest. When they saw what had
happened to the mighty Bakasura they trembled
like leaves in a storm.
‘If any of you dare to bother the people of
Ekachakra you too will meet with the same fate’
said Bheema as he left the place.
