Birbal was emperor Akbar's favourite minister among all his 9 gems. It is because he was very clever and had a solution to every problem. All his ministers were jealous of Birbal. So one day, akbar came up with a plan to test birbals cleverness. He wrote a letter to his close friend, the king of Burma and told him to kill both Birbal and Tansen. Very soon, both the ministers set off to Burma in a boat. They were soar and tired when they reached Burma. As they arrived, the king read the letter and asked them that why has the king asked to kill them,but none of them had a clue. Finally the king announced that they will be executed after 8 days in prison. They both were put into a tiny cell. On the day of execution, Birbal reasoned to the king that Akbar has had his eyes on Burma for a pretty long time. He continued, that to capture your territory, an astrologer said to kill both me and Tansen so that one of us becomes king and the other would become minister to king of Burma. So the emperor would not have to take over your kingdom at all. Like this, they convinced the king of Burma and were sent back to Akbar's palace
