Once a farmer and his neighbor came to king Akbar’s court.

The farmer complained that he bought a well from his neighbor but the man now wanted him to pay for the water in the well.

The king realized that the neighbor was trying to con the farmer and asked Birbal to solve the matter.

Birbal told the neighbor that it was him who had sold the well to the farmer and not the water.

So the well which belonged to the farmer then, had water which belonged to the neighbor.

So he asked the neighbor to either pay a rent to the farmer or withdraw all the water from the well at once.

The neighbor realized his folly and apologized at once.
