Answer:

Black Beauty saved the lives of Squire Gordon and John one stormy night when they tried to get him to cross a broken bridge. The Squire was very grateful and loved Black Beauty very much. One night a foolish young stableman left his pipe burning in the hay loft where Black Beauty and Ginger were staying.

Answer:

On the return journey, there was a storm which made the journey difficult for  all of them. Still, Beauty kept on going, to the master's delight. As they travelled  down the road, a gigantic oak torn up by the roots fell right across the road just  before them. As it was not possible to drive over that tree, they decided to take  the route by the four crossways, to the wooden bridge.

When they reached the crossroads it was very nearly dark and they we could see  that the water was just over the middle of it and generally when the floods were  out master did not stop. They were going along at a good pace, but the moment  Beauty’s feet touched the first part of the bridge he felt there was something  wrong and did not dare to go forward.. Despite getting a touch with the whip and  a sharp cut, Beauty did not stir nor go forward. When John sprang out of the  dog-cart and looked all around him, he saw a man at the toll-gate on the other  side, tossing a torch and warning them that the bridge was broken in the middle  and the would be carried away if they came forward.
