The Boycott and the Swadeshi movements that had begun in the wake of the anti-Partition agitation influenced the political, economic and cultural life of Bengal and for that matter the whole of India The direct results may be summed up as follows:

Firstly, though it is difficult to ascertain the exact amount of loss sustained by the British merchants as a result of the anti-Partition movement, there is no doubt that the import of the foreign goods was considerably reduced.

Secondly, the boycott of the foreign goods paved the way for the development of indigenous industries. Many textile mills, soap and match factories, handloom and weaving industries were opened.

It was at that time that Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy inaugurated his famous 'Bengal Chemical Swadeshi Stores'.

Thirdly, the Swadeshi movement resulted in a cultural regeneration of Bengal. There was the flowering of Bengali literature.
