How did britain balance its deficit with the trade in india in the 19 Century?​

1) Britain grew opium in India and exported it to China and with the value earned through this trade financed its imports like tea from China.

2)The value of British exports to India was much higher than the value of british imports from India.

3) Thus, Britain had a trade surplus with India. It used this surplus to manage its trade deficits with countries from which it was importing more than it was exporting.
