The policies which hurt the Indian sentiments are as follows:
1. General Service Enlistment Act of 1856: Under this act, soldiers were required to serve anywhere in India or overseas. But according to the Hindu customs, they worshipped sea as God and therefore crossing over sea was a sin to their religion.
2. Widow remarriage act: It was legalised the widow remarriage. This act also not liked by the orthodox Hindus who favoured sati.
3. Conversion of Hindus to Christians:
* The teaching of the Christian doctrine was made compulsory in the schools set up by the christian missionaries.
* Many temptations were offered to make conversion by giving the Indians bribes, promotions and rewards.
* The study of Bible was introduced in schools.
* Police force was used for converting people to Christianity.
4. The British government had also prohibited the sati system, female infanticide and child marriage.

All these measures hurt the sentiments of Indians.
