answer is British came to India in 1608 for trade. ... Company rule in India effectively began in 1757 and lasted until 1858, when, following the Indian Rebellion of 1857, the Government of India Act 1858 led to the British Crown's assuming direct control of the Indian subcontinent in the form of the new British Raj. I hope it's right

British returned from India because of National movement.

When people become conscious about the British presence in India because of:- 1. Some repressive policies by the British like, Vernacular press act of 1878, Arms act of 1878 and The Ilbert bill of 1883.

2. Political reasons

These all factors promoted nationalism of people.

British returned from India because :-

• Formation of Indian National Congress by Alluvian Octavian Hume in 1885, Bombay with 72 delegates.

• Partition of Bengal by Viceroy Curzon in 1905 which caused Swadeshi movement or Vandemataram movement.

• Mahatma Gandhi's interventions in local movements in Champaran, Kheda and Ahmedabad.

• Rowlatt satyagraha which caused Jallianwala Massacre

• Khilafat movement which caused Non cooperation movement.

• Akali agitation

• Civil disobedience movement

• Simon commission by Lord Simon which caused Anti Simon movement.

• Dandi March

• Quit India movement

• Mohammed Ali Jinnah's two nation theory

• Partition

You can explain each of one a little because it will get too long. So, that's why I have written in points.
