How did Buddhism travel to another part of the world?

people like traders and merchant travelled in ships across the world for buisiness. at that time while travelling (starting from a port) they take some bhuddists with. so, they might get to know about Buddhism by their speech,books,idols e.t.c.so, the merchant might tell it to others and they to another. in this way Buddhism spreaded all over the world.
