Answer:

For different Social Groups the idea of Civil Disobedience and Swaraj was different:

  • For rich peasants ( like the Patidars of Gujarat and Jats of UP ) the fight for Swaraj was the struggle against High Revenue.
  • For poor peasantry group. the fight for Swaraj was the struggle against the high rents, which they were unable to pay to landlords.
  • For business class, the fight for Swaraj meant the struggle against the business restrictions, which they wanted to be removed.
  • Indian Merchants and Industrialists formed the Indian Industrial and Commerce Congress in 1920 and FICCI in 1927.
  • The Industrial workers didn't participated in the movement in large number, except in Nagpur region where they demanded for high wages.
  • Large participation of women was a important feature of Civil Disobedience movement. Women were inspired of Gandhiji's call and they began to see service to the nation as their sacred and most important duty.
