I don’t know what demand you are talking about here but Drona, after a wonderful Acharya career, came to lead a life that was torn with five opposing issues: long enmity with Draupad family, deep love for his son who was a friend of Duryodhana, deep affection for Pandavas, especially Arjuna, the need to fight on the side of Kaurava clan, and a general wisdom that Krishna was an Avatar. In a way, you pity him but then every player in that epic was torn between opposing forces and issues, and that is why it is a great epic. Moral decision that was hanging before every player in that epic was not a straight-forward process, and the dharma was very subtle.
