Gulliver is given to the farmer's daughter, Glumdalclitch, who teaches him the language and treats him very well, like a child would care for a favorite doll. She actually she keeps him in a doll's cradle, which she closes inside a drawer at night to keep him safe from the rats. Gulliver is very much a pet to her.She takes such good care of Gulliver that he calls her his glumdalclitch (nurse).

The farmer's daughter takes good care of Gulliver; she cares for him like a child would care for her favourite doll. She puts him to sleep in her cradle, and puts the cradle safely in a drawer to protect him from rats. She grew fond of Gulliver and called him Glumdalclitch, which means nurse.
