In 1460s, Firuz shah bahmani and Mahmud Gawan built the 'Madrasa of Mahmud Gawan' , a very old Islamic university/college in Bidar city of deccan area in Karntaka. This shows how the two rulers of Bahmini era made deccan as an important centre of learning.

Mahmud Gawan was the Prime minisiter of the Bahmini kingdom during the rule of Firuz Shah Bahmani.
