In India shifting cultivation or swidden agriculture was followed. In shifting cultivation, a part of the forest was burnt and after the first monsoons, the seeds were sown on the ashes itself. After two or three years, it was left free for the forests to grow for next 12 to 18 years.
Hope it helps ❤️❤️
