Frantz didn't pay attention earlier in the classes , he didn't give importance to the classes. But as soon as he got to know that it was a last class he thought that he would have paid attention in the class. The moment he got to know that it was the last class he started paying attention, though he didn't understand all the things.

Hey !!
When Franz came to know that it would be his last lesson in French, he grew sentimental. The books and the lessons he had disliked before seemed quite fascinating now. He began to like his teacher M. Hamel and was sad that he has not learnt his lessons before. It was painful to think that there would be no M. Hamel and French lessons anymore.
